ADOPTION PROCESS:
-
APPLICATION: The first step to adopting a boxer is to get approved. This starts with our online application.
-
Please note, if you found one of our available Boxers listed on Petfinder, you still need to fill out our application here:
-
-
BE PATIENT: It may take several weeks before we are able to get your application processed. During this time, please make sure that you contact your vet to let them know that we will be calling, and that it’s okay for them to talk to us.
-
PHONE INTERVIEW: Once your application has been reviewed, and your vet has been contacted, we will call you. Please feel free to ask any and all questions at this time. We, too, have lots of important things to make sure that you know.
-
HOME VISIT: After the phone interview, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit. This allows us to get to know you, and your current pets, to help make sure that we place a boxer that is a great fit for you and/or your family. It’s very important to us that all members of the family are home during this visit.
-
APPROVAL LETTER: After the home visit, you will receive a letter indicating whether or not you (and/or your family) are approved for adoption.
-
MEET-AND-GREET: If you are approved, and if/when we have a boxer that would be a great fit for you and/or your family, we arrange a meet-and-greet. This gives all family members and pets a chance to meet the boxer.
-
WAIT PERIOD: After the meet-and-greet, we wait for at least two-days before we accept a final decision on adoption. Making the decision of whether or not to adopt a new family member into your forever home, is not a decision that we take lightly, and neither should you.
-
ADOPTION: Finally, if our available boxer is a great fit, the adoption paperwork is filled out and adoption is complete.
NOTE: Sometimes, several people may be interested in the same dog, so please remember that not every dog is right for every home. To ensure a healthy and happy placement for our dogs and their new families, we take the time to evaluate each dog's temperment and try to match the right dog to the right family. Once an adoption is approved, you will need to have a crate, bedding, food and water dishes, a collar, a leash with ID tags, and a high quality dog food BEFORE your dog comes home.
